Ashton began his DJ career in 1998 while living in London for 2 years. He was heavily influenced by Derrick Carter, Mark Farina and the Lazy Dog in Notthinghill gate at the time. He was involved in some underground warehouse parties and gained his first experience there. Missing home, he returned with the intention of playing the music he loves. Joburg was the first stop where he co-hosted a weekly underground event in the dungeon at Cool Runnings Melville along with Rick Hunter. One of his career highlights was taking first place out of 30 competing Dj’s in the popular annual Azzurri DJ competition in 2001. Other previous winners included Dj Nelson (aka afroboogie) and Ricardo Da Costa. A move to Cape Town in 2002 was one he never looked back on. His selection of underground deep and tech house has seen him maintain residencies at some of the top venues in Cape Town, including Buddha Bar, Sapphire, Sutra, The Fuse, Black Sheep, Deluxe, Caprice, Rhodes House, Purgatory, Monk Bar and now Chukkachurri. His passion and experience for creating a vibe through energetic, groovy and melodic deep house has gained him the respect of the top selectors in the industry.
